Webinar: Astronomy Modeling w/ Rubin Observatory: The Observable Universe

Event Picture

Explore the Observable Universe with insights from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory.

Register today: https://wkf.ms/4kDSrgr

Description:  The NSF—DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory has developed a suite of free classroom-ready investigations (and support materials such as phenomena and assessments) that use authentic data to explore common astronomy topics. These may be integrated into American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA) Astronomy Modeling units to provide multiple opportunities for deep dives into making sense of data.

In the Observable Universe investigation, students analyze galaxy redshift data to explore how the Universe’s large-scale structure has evolved over time. After delving into the concepts of the cosmological principle and the observable universe, students use them to develop and evaluate models to explain the physical processes driving the observed changes in large-scale structure.
