**POSTPONED Reimagining Energy in MS Science Using Modeling Instruction DL-Sum25

A week-long distance learning course addressing energy in Middle School Science using Modeling Instruction.


 

DESCRIPTION:  
In this week-long course, teachers will explore the science of energy.  Participants will discover creative ways and innovative strategies for explaining energy storage and transfer through the use of energy pie charts and energy bar charts.  This course encourages critical thinking and looks beyond traditional definitions of energy by incorporating collaborative learning, demonstrations and virtual lab work.  Teachers will leave well-equipped with the tools and techniques necessary to effectively teach energy concepts in their middle school classrooms.  

One Graduate-level credit is available from University of Pacific for $79/credit hour.

Leader:  Nell Bielecki


Nell Bielecki currently teaches both 7th and 8th grade science at Anderson Middle School in Berkley, MI.  She has taught middle school science for 24 years and since 
2017, has used Modeling Instruction with her students. She continuously strengthens her instructional methods and practice through varied workshops. She has also co-facilitated modeling Instruction with MiSTAR workshops throughout the state. Nell has also recently enjoyed presenting at the Michigan Science Teachers Association (MSTA) annual conference.
