Description:

This workshop will help you develop effective modeling pedagogy in the instruction of fundamental electricity and magnetism concepts. Modeling Instruction emphasizes a deep and robust understanding of concepts while emphasizing a model-centered approach. This type of approach is central to effective implementation of the NGSS and/or the NCCRSS and draws heavily from cognitive science. You'll learn how your students can develop conceptual models through data-driven activities that fully integrate effective data evaluation and interpretation strategies. While content materials will be provided, participants will be encouraged to examine how the materials can be modified, supplemented, and scaffolded throughout their curriculum. Graduate credit available
The workshop can be paid in full at time of registering or you can select to pay later, please email  sue@modelinginstruction.org  for an invoice for your school's purchase order.

In 2005 she moved to Omaha, NE, and has been teaching STEM, physics, and AP physics. Judy became acquainted with Modeling Instruction through colleagues at AAPT. She attended the Mechanics workshop in the summer of 2012, followed by the E&M and the Light and Optics workshops in 2013 and 2014. In the summer of 2015, she completed the Modeling Leader training workshop. She has shared Modeling Instruction with the other physics teachers in her school and at various conferences.
