We will meet the 1st Saturday of each month from 6-7 pm Hong Kong time (GMT + 8 hrs), 12:00 pm CET, 6:00 am EST

Discussion will be on all things Modeling as well as Managing whiteboard discussions in a multi-cultural classroom.
 
Sheri is an American who has been teaching the IB Diploma program (Chemistry and Biology) and the MYP sciences in international schools for over 20 years. She is currently living in Hong Kong and teaching MYP science at the Hong Kong International School.

Urška has Slovenian/American dual citizenship and was educated herself in the international school system before attending University in the United States. She received her Ph.D. in geo-physics, joined the Peace Corp for two year, and then began her teaching career in international schools. She is currently living in Brazil and teaching IB Physics and MYP science at the International School of Curitiba.

Francis - my first experience as an educator was teaching Mandarin at Concordia Language Villages during my undergraduate years at St. Olaf College, where I studied physics and Asian studies. After undergrad, I moved to China and eventually Taiwan, where I taught at many different levels, eventually landing on teaching AP physics and calculus. During this time I received my teaching certification in physics and my M.Ed. in secondary education from The College of New Jersey. I now teach IB DP physics, conceptual physics, and astronomy at the American International School Dhaka. In my free time, I play trombone in a few jazz and funk groups in Dhaka and try to make time for some pick-up basketball in between rehearsals and gigs.

I started modeling in 2017 with my AP Physics 1 course while in Taiwan, and I never looked back. At every international school I have taught, enrollment in physics classes has increased from year to year, and I attribute this mainly to my implementation of Modeling Instruction. Integrating MI in the IB DP curriculum is an important goal of mine, and I am looking to collaborate with other international modelers to find the best way to do this.

Together Urška, Sheri, and Francis have been working on the idea of building an international modeling community. They feel there are some unique circumstances that shape the teaching/learning experiences in this overseas circuit and would like to chat about ways we can support one another.
