Mechanics Modeling Workshop - Hiram Johnson HS, Sacramento CA

Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento CA will be the workshop site for a Mechanics Modeling Workshop from July 15-August 2, 2019.


This Mechanics Modeling Workshop will cover the motion, forces, momentum and energy--typically the first semester of high school physics. The workshop will be led by peer leaders Chris Doscher and Scott Pflaumer.

Christopher Doscher has a MS in Science Education and BS in Mechanical Engineering and has taught at the college and high school level since 2003.  He attended and lead modeling workshops in Physics and Chemistry at Florida International University for 11 years beginning in 2006, before returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2017 where he currently teaches NGSS Physics and Chemistry at Cleveland High School in Portland, Oregon.

Scott Pflaumer participated in his first Modeling Physics workshop in 2009 and has been employing Modeling Instruction ever since. Scott completed E&M and CASTLE workshops at Arizona State University while completing an MNS degree. In 2014 he attended the AMTA Leadership Training workshop at FIU. Scott currently teaches freshmen physics at the Harker School in San Jose California.

Costs:
  • $1350 ($675 down payment required).
  • 10 Teachers from the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) will be paid for by the district, email wendy@modelinginstruction.org for the registration discount code.
  • For all other for attendees, the workshop fee of $1350 will be discounted if workshop enrollment exceeds 20 participants. the amount of the discount will be determined by the number of teachers who register. If 30 teachers register, the final payment will be waived.

The Event page contains the description, date and time of the event, which was created either by the Administrator or Basic User.

The Administrators can edit and delete the Event as well as download it to the PC.
The Administrators cancreate and configure events using Admin - Events page.
