Janelle Hollingshead will lead a discussion on diversity at her school in Chicago on December 5, 7 pm EST.

Janelle:
I am a chemistry teacher in Chicago Public Schools. I have modeled for three years and I specialize in helping students with special needs.  My school is the most diverse school in the city.  My students are on free and reduced lunch but they are also super smart because they had to test into my school.  I love my school because I feel like we are working to stop the cycle of poverty.

Diversity is important in classrooms.  I will talk about how to celebrate diversity in a science context so that students are exposed to how all cultures are involved in science.
