There is a small wet weather creek with a few springs on my property which keeps just enough water for mosquitoes year round. I have tried many of the previously mentioned sprays with limited success. I have started to use incense when I am working in the yard and it works great! The kind of incense doesn't seem to matter much, as long as it gives off smoke. I light several sticks and place them around the area I am working and they keep me mosquito free as long as they are burning. I have not found the more expensive yard incense sticks to be more effective than the cheap sticks I sometimes buy at 20 for a dollar. When I am entertaining outdoors I keep the incense burning. Use small pots filled with sand to hold the sticks or put them in container plants. Just make sure they are out of the reach of children and not where people might run into them and get burned. Pay attention to the direction of the wind to place the sticks so that they will have the maximum efficiency.

Dear Dirt Doctor,
Below you mention that a monthly spray of garlic, combined with plant oil mists (i.e. Eco-EXEMPT), is a safe way to keep mosquitoes away. Can you please tell me more about the garlic spray, like what brand and how to spray/use it?

Initially, I was going to install a mosquito-mister system that used Pyrethrum (Pyronyl 303). After researching and reading the information in your website, I am planning to go down the safe/natural route, instead, but need a bit of guidance with the execution of such a system.

Many thanks!

We have found great success in EcoExemt MC and EcoEmulsifier and EcoExempt IC2. We use the Solo back pack mister and it works. We have customer that live off a private pond they had problems with mosquito's we did the job for FREE and now she is a happy paying customer.

Use any of these products but make sure you allow to agitate for 20min I found this to be more successful.
