Knowing that it's best to prune as little as possible and to do so during the fall or winter, we did minimal pruning of a Sawtooth Oak in our front yard this past winter. We only removed the lowest branches. I underestimated how much some branches would dip down due to the weight of the new leaves this spring. Therefore, we have a few branches that need to be removed because they are shoulder/head high and don't allow walking clearance for sidewalk.

The branches I'd like to prune are 3", 4 1/2" and 6" in circumference. Is it too late in the season to prune our Sawtooth Oak now?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
