I've had to toss out 6 cantaloupes so far because they split open and the bugs got to them. A couple of them weren't even completely ripe. I thought I'd been consistent enough in my watering but maybe not. Is there anything else that can cause this to happen?

when the moisture level changes dramatically they, and tomatoes can split. keep even moisture level. dont let them try out too much cause then when you water or it rains, they plump and split.
