If you only had room to plant one tree in your yard, which would it be? I know some trees have advantages and dis-advantages, but if you just had to select one best overall tree for the DFW area, which would it be?

As clear as your question is, I'm not sure there is an answer. It's kinda like asking if you were going to be deserted on an island, what single tool would you take with you. If the island has no trees, don't take a hatchet!
There is no one single tree because some grow to 80 feet high and 80 feet wide. What if your yard was 20x20? Some trees have fruit like pecans but they are messy. Is the mess worth the fruit or do you hate nuts?
My favorite tree is a red oak but I don't know what kind of soil you have or what your drainage situation is like. So my favorite might not even be able to be your favorite.
I think you need to give this some more thought and ask the question again.
