I heard just the tail end of Howard mentioning that there is some Ground Crew Seminar on Saturday 11/13/04. However, I have gone completely through the October & November Dirt issue and looked all over the site to find no mention to this effect.

Can someone of close connection to things that happen here fill me in on the particulars? Like When (Date & Time) and Where this is to take place? Is there a certain place we are supposed to check for meetings such as this on a permanent basis? Are we supposed to have received an email to this meeting? If so, I never received one (obviously).

Thanks for the help on enlightening me to the ways.

Sincerely,
perfumfree

perfumfree,

I don't know the answer to your question :( Just thought I would congratulate you on your "service date". I hadn't even heard of the internet in '69, and it wasn't until '70 (wasn't that year of the first Earth Day?) that my environmental awareness was errr.... well became aware :D

Seriously, I hope someone comes along with an answer before that date comes and goes.

I don't have a clue how they have my membership date since Jan 1970 now that I look at it. I know I have been a member maybe since 1999. Not even sure about that. I know I took an Organic Gardening 6 wk seminar with Howard Garrett at SMU in 1995, but I don't think I became a Ground Crew Member until about 1999 or 2000. I know my membership doesn't expire until April 2007. I don't know how to correct the membership date since info. I tried going to my profile but it doesn't allow me to modify it.

I also have done a little research. If you check out the memberlist and sort it by Joined Date Ascending order, if you take the time like I just did (I really need to get a life), you will notice the first 4,024 members all have a joined date of Jan 1, 1970. Then member 4,025 joined date is Feb. 24, 2003. I don't know if that has something to do with the new Ground Crew online section or not. Maybe all these folks 0 to 4,024 were the Founding members because the signed in online before Oct 31, 2004 when the new Ground Crew online section became active. I'm only guessing. I don't know this for a fact. Or, maybe some programmer on their side is fiddling around with the programming for one reason or another. I really don't have a clue.

If anyone of importance knows how to change this, please let me know. If we are unable to change it because you don't want us to, that would be nice to know also.

Thanks!

Don't know if I'm important or not, but you can just ignore it and leave it alone....As you surmised, it was just a quick and easy way to mark the Founding Members during the rollout of the new site...

If you are talking about last Sundays show, it was a 'Best Of' from August(I believe). Howard was out visiting his daughter Logan, in California at college. Both Saturday and Sundays were from the same weekend.

Howard was referring to a seminar. It is not a Ground Crew Members Only seminar. All the information can be found at the link below.
Malcolm Beck will be there along with Walt Davis, JoAnne Boudreau, Derrick Cooke, Ava Frick, and Dr. Bill Ormston.

Thanks Nadine for bringing the "low down" to us. I was afraid for a moment we were going to miss out on something. Unfortunately :( I don't own a horse, so I can skip this one.

Thanks also to perfumfree and admin for their explanations. perfumfree can I call upon your research skills in the future  (thumbsup x2)

WHOA!  There are a lot of reasons to attend this seminar even if you don't have a horse! While the morning session is a hands on demonstration with horses, the afternoon session will be held in a cozy barn. There are plenty of reasons for forum readers and member to attend. Rain or shine, we'll be there.

#1 REASON TO COME: There will be lots of vendors there you'd probably like to meet and speak with: Sanger Organic Depot, Enviromate (Randy Mosley himself), Advantage Organics, Young Living Essential Oils (They are DIVINE), George's Aloe with GW Bartek, our own forum member BLUESTEM (novice hay growers take note), and a host of others.

#2 REASON TO COME: Malcolm Beck will be there with books to sell and sign. Walt Davis will be there and you will very much enjoy his talk. While Joanne Boudreau has recently informed us she will have to withdraw because of her overwhelming schedule, we have replaced her with 3 excellent speakers who have 20-30 years experience using herbs and plant extracts for health and healing in humans and animals.

#3 REASON TO COME: This is also a fundraiser for a therapeutic horseback riding school team. Therapeutic riding has had success much like the more publicized communing with dolphins for children with physical, emotional and mental challenges.

#4 REASON TO COME: We in this community should take advantage of any opportunities to commune and share ideas, successes and suggestions.

YOU ARE ALL INVITED. Tickets are $20 per person. If you have questions I'm not hard to find. Also check the link Nadine mentioned above. :D

Kathe :D

I understand the link the Nadine sent for Saturday in Weatherford, but then Kathe talks about it in Sanger. Not being familiar with the area, are they the same? I don't know how to get to either of these places. I live in Lewisville. I ask this because I received an email through my Master Gardeners (Denton County) that there is a FREE seminar and book signing at Sanger General Store and Organic Depot on SUNDAY November 14, 2004 from 1pm-3pm. Where Malcolm Beck will be speaking and signing. Is this true? Does anyone know about this seminar and is it really FREE? Do anyone know if one has to call and RSVP to this FREE seminar?

Thanks for your help!

Sanger Organic Depot will be represented at the event in Weatherford.

Yes, there is a free seminar the next day at the Sanger General Store where Malcolm Beck will be signing books. Yes, you do need to RSVP with the number of people who will be attending. The info you need may be found at the link below.
