Can't see it very clearly. Are there any markings? On first sight, I would say yes, probably, but it needs some detail. Can you lighten up the photo? We get lots of wolf spiders or grass spiders coming in during Summer and I just catch them and put them back out. You won't very often see a brown recluse out in the open and I think they have a "flatter" appearance.

Wolf spider is a much more muscular looking spider than this. I don't know what this one is called, except around our house we refer to them as "Tarrant County Racers." They're fast, and get under the furniture before anyone can catch them!

Here is a link to a page with wolf spider information:

That picture looks just like the spiders that keep coming into my house in Flower Mound. I have seen them in a couple of sizes from about quarter size to a little larger. A really big one scooted under my chair one morning while I was working on my computer and scared me to death - and I know they are supposed to be beneficial - and I smashed it with my shoe. Hundreds of baby spiders came running out, so I figured it was a wolf spider since they carry their egg sacs around with them.

I just can't stand to get close enough to catch them and put them back outside. Sorry, but I'm a freak when it comes to spiders.

These spiders are known by pest control companys as jumping spiders , they are very common in brick homes due to the weep holes , if you edge or mow around your foundation you typicaly will see several . they enter your walls through the weep holes and then into your interior through cracks gaps ect.

It looks like a male wolf spider to me. I recently photographed one at a friends house in Flower Mound one night. It was on the front sidewalk.

Dan,
organic1 is correct; male wolf spider. This is actually a benifical spider as it prefers to hunt for it's prey similar to "crab" spiders.
If you can return it outdoors unharmed it will help keep down other undesireable 'critters'.
:)
