Post subject:  raw chicken for dogs?

I have read about giving raw chicken to dogs and the breeder we got our puppies from gives her dogs raw chicken, this does not sound right to me. They say the bones are not a problem when raw but what about salmonella? There is a big recall on dog food right now because of that.

I talked to the vet about this when we took the pups in for the last visit, she did not think it was a good idea either. We have used Muenster for our grown dogs for a long time and have been very satisfied, one of our dogs had a skin problem that was greatly improved after switching to Muenster.

You can learn more about the benefits of feeding raw food here.

Just to add to that, when a dog kills a chicken and eats it, it eats the entire chicken, feathers and all. In fact with any animal it is going to eat, the dog eats in its entirety. This includes whatever horrible bacteria that live in the intestines of the animal. Apparently dogs have the intestinal biology to deal with bones, feathers, and even diseases that we cannot handle.
