Post subject:  bloody tail

We have a 1 year old German Shorthair Pointer. He is a happy guy that has beat his tail up against the wall and patio furniture. I am looking for something that will keep him from licking/chewing on his tail. Even when we bandage it and put the bitter sprays on it, he will leave it alone over night, but in the morning, he will chew off the the bandage and it starts over. We are considering a muzzle to give it time to heal.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks
