Post subject:  Asian Jasmine & Purple Sweet Potato vine -- TX Cold Hard

Howdy guys and gals!

I'm in rural Dallas County, Mesquite, TX - 75181.

I have potted asian jasmine (thats what I was told) and purple sweet potato vine (this i can lose -- I have TONS of it) growing on a tower in my front yard. I usually move my plants into a temporary greenhouse each winter - but these 2 are all over the tower growing 10 feet upward, plus my greenhouse is much much smaller this year (no $$)

Anybody know what I can/should do with these this year?
Here's a pic of the tower:

if you can, put the asian jasmine in the ground somewhere... it can survive pretty cold weather..

the potatoe vine I think is more cold tender... if you cannot move it, maybe take cutting or something..

if you want to keep the asian jasmine in a pot, know that any plant in a pot is more susceptible to freezing since the root system is more exposed... you can always bury the pot in a pile of mulch and it may just keep on looking good for the winter..

Excellent. Do you know if it prefers full sun, partial shade, etc.? It's current location is nearly full sun in spring, turning to morning sun, afternoon shade in summer, back to near full sun in winter.

I found out it's called "Blackie" It's in a HUGE pot with 2 other plants (a bush of tiny pinky-red flowers that really need more sun (Penta ?) and some sort of foliage plant), but I have TONS of this stuff in pots and in the ground all around the property. Of course cuttings are not a problem - this stuff sets roots in a teardrop -- anybody want some? :)

I usually move all potted plants into the temporary greenhouse for the winter, but I have to be more selective this year. Theres that HUGE pot near it's current location that I may be able to keep warm enough for the winter.
