I've seen grasshoppers on this bush eating the flower itself as pictured. But is this grasshopper damage on the leaves? I have another gem on the other side of the house that isn't seeing this.

The discolorations on the leaves are making me think something else is going on in the beds.
This magnolia is in the same bed that I mentioned in the topic "Flower bed not thriving"

Thoughts?
Thanks,
JP

You can spray Spinosad on the plant to kill whatever may be eating on it if you want. A few chomps on leaves doesn't bother me. I responded to your last post just now also. Anytime you see an evergreen tree or shrub starting to look yellow, like yours does, it is getting not getting enough iron from our clay soils. Fertilize with something for acid-loving plants, like Holly-Tone. Water it deeply once a week during the summer. Water in seaweed with iron as often as you can remember to do it.

Thanks again Sandi.
I'll do it.

You think 15 mins once a week is a enough or more like 20-25 mins?

It is impossible for me to know the output of your sprinkler system. You can purchase a gator-bag which will deliver 15-25 gallons of water, once a week, to your tree without any evaporation. Use a tuna/cat food can around in your bed/lawn and water until it's full. That'll be about an inch; do that once a week.
