Anyone have any updats on how their TechTurf and ShadowTurf installations/upkeep went? You think the end result justifies the cost? How about anyone near Austin or San Antonio that is dealing with the current drought situation- your TechTurf still doing ok? Pics?

I put in a small patch of Shadow Turf several years ago. We were relandscaping an area adjacent to the driveway that was in the shade all day. No sooner had we put that in than the tree broke apart in a wind storm and we removed it. Now it gets a lot of sun in the morning. Also it is planted in sand. So that is the environment.

In the past I have relied on rain to bring the grass out of dormancy. This year we had no rain and I forgot about it. So this year the Shadow Turf never came out of dormancy and is still dormant even with occasional apps of an inch of water. It will be interesting to see how it comes back when the rains finally return (next spring???).

Otherwise I find this turf to be very hard to predict. It is very fine bladed and gives no warning when it is going dormant from drought. And once it goes dormant, it seems to remain dormant for the remainder of the season.
