I wonder what type of sprayer should be used to do the foliar spray with Garrett Juice? I have tried several different type commericial sprayers but they all seem to clog the sprayers since the Garrett Juice is more of a thicker consistency than what these sprayers seem to be created for. I only have a small yard so I usually do not make more than one gallon at a time. Any feedback is appreciated!

Thanks, Agatha

I just buy a spray bottle from the drug store or from your local nursery/hardware store.

I bought a small (just over a gallon or so) sprayer from Elliot's in Plano. The suction tube has a small mesh filter on it, which prevents any large particles from getting sucked up into the line, which could plug the nozzle. I only mix up a gallon at a time and I try to use it all at once. When I'm out of Garrett juice, I fill the sprayer half-way with water, close it up and pressurize it, and then run the water (with trace amounts of Garrett juice) through the nozzle. I then dump the remainder of the rinse water in a bed (usually the one with my saucer magnolia). Even leaving a small amount of G-juice in the sprayer will result in a science experiment gone wrong, as I reminded myself this past week.

My sprayer also has an adjustable nozzle, allowing me to vary the spray pattern (from a fine mist to a stream). I've also bought another sprayer to use just for enhanced vinegar applications, and I've got both labeled just to prevent any possible mistaken applications.

I'm thinking the thing cost around $10-12 or so. Buy what suits your needs. If a gallon sprayer is too big, go with a hand spray bottle.

I use the store bought Garrett Juice concentrate. My 2-gal pump sprayer has three tip-sizes to accommodate different viscosities and fan sizes. I have had no problems with clogs.

What time of day is best to spray Garrett Juice on the grass?

Where are you? If you're in a hot climate, spraying plants with the intent to fertilize or foliar feed is best in the early morning or evening. I suppose if you're in a cooler climate then the timing is less critical.

I'm in Texas so I'll follow your advice. Thanks!

Foliar spraying should always be done in the early morning. Spray the underside of the leaves, which is where the cells are that will allow the plant to take in the nutrients. Once the sun is on the plants and it gets warm, those cells close to prevent too much moisture loss.
