I have a tree that I planted last year thinking it was a crape myrtle. I'm beginning to realize that it is most definitely not. At the end of each little branch it comes to a sharp point like a thorn. I've tried searching for a long time to come up with what this is but haven't found any pictures that really look the same as what I have in my yard. Does anyone have any ideas? Here's a picture of a branch. I apologize for the quality, it was taken with my phone. It's not ugly, I just don't like the thorns on it. I don't want my yard to be covered with them if they ever break off.

If you're still following this thread, it would help if you can post a clear photo of the flower or fruit. And seeing the bark also helps. |

Even if you ID it, you'll still have a tree that you don't want which has thorns. I would dig it up and plant what you do want before it gets too hot. |
