Post subject:  Peach Tree Fruit Borers

Every year I have the same problem and that is when the fruit starts to form on the tree borers, or something causes the sap to dribble out of the fruit. When the fruit reaches ripening stage it usually has several of these sap holes on the fruit. The fruit is ruined by a worm present in the fruit at or around the pit.

I've tried spraying the tree at budding time with Garrett Juice mixture and after bloom with same. I'm afraid to use orange oil as it would kill the bees which pollinate the flowers. My neighbor has an Apricot tree which has no bug problems and they never do any maintenance on the tree.

What can I do, short of getting rid of my peach trees, to rid myself of this worm problem. I have a Texas native alberta and a Georgia bell. The alberta was raised from a seedling from the parent tree which was destroyed by wood ants.

I would think that borers would be a sign of tree stress. You might want to try the Sick Tree treatment and ensure that the tree is not planted too deep and has proper drainage.
