Post subject:  chinquapin tree

has anyone planted a chinquapin tree recently, i have but it seems to be dying, leaves are turnig brown after 3 weeks. this is a nut tree and i have read where a nut tree might take up to 10 weeks to come out of schock. does anyone have any answers, rick

Haven't planted this particular tree recently, but let's see if we can figure out what's wrong.

What's your location (roughly) and when exactly did you plant it?

Post subject:  Chinquapin Oak

I planted one last summer and it was roughly six weeks before it came out of "shock." In the fall it really rebounded and looks great now and is one of the faster growing trees I have. Last summer the grasshoppers nearly stripped it and the heat didn't help. Stick to the organic program and it should recover.
