Can everything be removed now or should it be gradual? I'm most concerned about the thick circling roots on the red oak. FYI: the grower said that girdling roots occur all the time in containerized trees and will not help out. Pretty lazy view in my opinion. |

If the trees were mine I would take the problem roots off now. The grower that allowed the problem roots should be responsible. It's a pretty simple case - unfortunately, it is a very common case. The only grower I know currently addressing this root problem properly is Select Trees in Athens Georgia - and they still aren't organic. Hope that changes soon. |

Ready for the update???? Well, I talked with the nursery, he said he'd pay for $50 of the arborist fees. Nice gesture, but I wasn't overly impressed considering the amount I paid for the trees. Then the rains came. The storm at the end of March wiped 3 of my trees down a creek in my backyard. I found the Bur Oak nearly a mile down the creek and replanted it. The storm a few weeks ago washed it away again. Found it again and replanted it. It pretty much resembles Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree, but its starting to get some new growth. I've staked it for now, so we'll see what happens. I still haven't had the arborist out yet, but there's no more Red Oak to trim up.... |
