Post subject:  bald cypress tree turning brown

I have two new bald cypress trees in my yard. They are turning brown from the inside near the trunk and outwards. The outermost leaves are still green. The leaves are not dry and brittle, just brown. Last week I gave them a tree spike and our watering has slowed down (the ground is still moist), those are the only changes. Not sure if I have two sick trees, or what. Any help is appreciated.

Probably just the drought and heat. Bald cypress look pretty bad all around. Keep watering but forget the tree spikes. Get some compost and organic fertilizer on those trees - compost now, fertilizer in the fall.

I've got 2 bald cypresses in my back yard and one of them is starting to brown at the end of the branches. We're on water restriction here in Plano, so I'm guessing it's low water for me, too.

You are right, and it's nothing to worry about, just a defense to the hot and dry conditions. Cypress trees in natural settings grow in shallow water and/or marsh conditions. They are just reacting to the drought.
