Without doubt, Bradford Pears are the #1 worst to have. Well, maybe they are beautiful (not according to me ), but structurally they are no good. From the past "land hurricane" we had, they were the most damaged tree I have ever seen;more so than cottonwoods, arizona ashes, mulberries, silver maples, and willows. Everyone (hundreds of them) were split in half or uprooted or both. Now, I'll be fair , the wind was clocked to about 80 mph, Fences, docks, boats, airplanes, hangers were destroyed. I saw flying trampolines thrown like frisbees .
Plus I think bp's are planted way too much in the new neighborhoods to point neighborhoods are looking boring.
On the otherhand, my live oaks, chinese pistache held up very well. As well as other peoples' trees such as shumard oaks and bur oaks .

There was a one-two slow-motion punch over the last couple of years: the drought of last summer weakened so many trees that wind this year broke up and you should see the number of ground-to-a-stump spots on yards in my neighborhood where the silver maples have been taken out. I think I'd nominate that one as the worst tree, even over the Bradford pears! (But I agree with your analysis of that ornamental pear tree - they'e a poor choice.)
