Has anyone ever had any success starting new bald cypress trees from cuttings ... if so ...when did you try this, what technique have you used .... I tried cutting short branches and using root stimulator a couple times over the last 6 months without any success .... .any ideas?

I've never donw it with Bald Cypress, but for most hardwoods, you need to get some really young wood, say the last 4-6 inches of new growth. Then you strip back all but the last few leaves at the tip. I have heard form everal sources that saliva works better than rooting hormone, although I'd apply it indirectly- licking a plant may at the least taste nasty and at the worst give a bad toxic/allergic reaction.

Plant it in good moist soil burying all but the last inch or so.

Keep the soil moist but not too wet. Don't keep the cuttings in full sun.

In a few weeks, if successful, you will have new plants/trees.
