Post subject:  Oak Wilt or Drought Kills?

I bought 12 acres in Parker County with moderate woods and some open pasture with light cedar here and there.

The shame is that the largest oaks, both Red and Live, are dying. I can see where the prior owner cut some that were HUGE, down.

I cut one into firewood this weekend that had to be 200 years old judging by the number of rings.

I had a local ranch owner come look at it and he said drought...no oak wilt.

I had a local nursery owner come look at it and he said drought....no oak wilt.

I had the USDA people come look at the pastures and one said oak wilt...one said severe drought...

I look at leaves and see browning here and there.....but how can I get a definitive answer so I will know whether I need to treat this or not?
