Post subject:  Chinquapin Oak leaves turning brown!

My chinquapin oak tree is suddenly having the inner leaves start to turn brown and die. I have two of these trees in 2 gallon pots that I just up potted in late winter. Only one of them is showing this issue. The other (healthy one) is looking just fine. I have attached some photos of both the sickly leaves and the healthy ones from the same tree.

Ok. Just tried to attach pics but file size is too big, so I'll just describe what leaves look like. The leaves turn from a green to yellow to brown from the edge inward up to and around the veins of the leaves. The veins of the leaf are the last area to brown up and die. I think this is some nutrient deficiency but what nutrient I'm not sure. This has started within the last two weeks on the inner leaves of the tree.

Thanks is advance for any assistance,

RJ intx

If you will load your photos to a site like Flickr or Photobucket or Picasa and link back (paste in the URL in the thread then highlight it and click the "IMG" button at the top of the reply form) then we should be able to see your photos. Size them down to about 1000px wide and they will be a good size to see in a browser window.

Meanwhile, tell us more about the trees. Where are you, what kind of soil is in these pots, and do you use organic gardening practices? How much water do they get and are the pots liable to get really hot during the day?

Here is more about the trees.
