I have a older red oak tree that has ping pong size whitish, hard balls that are dropping....I have cut into it and it is reddish around the outside and has a small white core...it looks like a fruit? It does not have a smell...Does anyone know what these are? Do I need to get rid of them? Are they normal? They are not green or papery like some of the other posts. They are hard and solid... Thanks for any info!!! |

Those are galls, a typical occurrence in oak trees, caused by an insect. There are many different types. Take a look in the library and you'll find a lot of information about galls. |
