 Post subject: Crape Myrtle fungus

I have an older Crape Myrtle that has white blotches and a dark sooty appearce on the limbs. Does anyone have a diagonosis and solution? I assume it is some type of fungus.

It's scale. You can use an All Season Oil to spray on it from top to bottom. Do it in the early morning though. Also, this winter, apply that same oil several times as a preventative.
