We have a small orchard(20 fruit & rows of blackberries). In the spring the ground is always covered in bluebonnets that we don't mow until June. The old farmers around here say to kill the "weeds" they are hurting the trees. I say they are very beneficial and fixing nitrogen into the soil. Please advise.

Leave them where they are! Hard to imagine anyone, let alone "old farmers," telling you to take out flowers.
