Post subject:  Pruning trees in July

I am closing on a new home on July 3rd. The trees must be limbed up as they are on the roof, electric lines, and generally covering up the lawn. Are there any insects that will attack fresh cuts now and kill the trees? Does anyone know of a product that could prevent insect attacks? The trees are over 3 feet in diameter. The location is Graham, Texas which is about 85 miles west of Fort Worth, Young County where the hill country begins.

Frankly, for Summertime I'd not prune anything that isn't absolutely necessary. If the limbs are a danger to the roof, those can be carefully cut back, but keep an eye on them.

Otherwise, I'd save the remainder till Autumn.
