I have two peach trees and for the last two seasons have lost all the fruit to some type of pests - some type of bores I think. Anyway, both trees are loaded with new fruit right now and I need to know what to do to keep these pests away this year. Can anyone tell me what to use - I'm assuming I need to spray - and how much and often I should do it? Any help would be much appreciated. :(

The house we bought came with a dwarf peach tree. We are so excited! But also new to dealing with fruit trees. I've been doing research and suggest the following:

Check out the "Pecan & Fruit Tree Organic Program" in the Library on this site. It details what to do about pests (or, in your case, suspected pests)

Also, in the "Monthly Organic Calendars" on the Home page of this site, I noticed that Howard says to thin peach fruit to 5" (spacing between).

I also read (somewhere...) that strips of reflective tape hanging in the branches will help keep birds away when the fruit starts ripening.

Finally, (also read somewhere...) make sure to remove the old fruit from the tree if there's any left. Can't remember exactly why -- maybe causes some kind of disease? Anyway, I'm going to do it. Makes sense!

Hope that helps.

I had the same or a similar problem last year, all the peaches had holes in them and they fell off before becoming ripe.

The tree is now covered with new peaches, what do I do to prevent the same thing happening this year?
