Watch for mosquito spraying in your area! Call the city and let them know you do NOT want them spraying near your yard! Recently, I learned that the City of Flower Mound has been spraying. Call them and tell them no! it is a bad idea.

The times that they spary are not when mosquitoes are active, but when other insects that help keep mosquitoes in check ARE active. A decline in the mosquitoes natural predators only axacerbates the situation.

Remember to dump standing water, keep your gutters clear of debris. If standing water cannot be dumped, treat it with mosquito dunks. These are available at many hardware stores and nurseries. (Even the not necessarily organic ones)!

Call the city now! you might have to call them twice a year, but stay on it so they do not spray! Ever!

How has that worked out? Did they really bypass your yard, when you asked them to?

The mosquitoes have been bad this fall. Sprinkling granulated garlic and dumping standing water have helped a lot.

Yes, they did. I have a friend who works for the City of Carrollton in the environmental services area and he told me that they would actually rather NOT spray due to the cost of it and due to the fact that some of the city employees do not feel it does any good in the first place. He also told me that they DO honor this, that they will NOT go down my street. I trust him.

I would like for cities everywhere who still practice this injurous and wasteful ritual be made to announce the date (and approximate window of time) any spraying would take place!
