Some four years ago, an elderly Benedictine monk beekeeper in Oceanside, CA, told me his bees were dying off until the monastery stopped using Roundup. All this wringing of hands since then by the media over what is causing bee colony collapse seems so much cover-up for the chemical inudstry. Finally, the media is saying "perhaps" pesticides are the culprits. I have been waiting for the chance to pass on the experience of this elderly monk, and for free, to a wider public, and I thank you for the opportunity. If this wise old man could figure it out so easily, why is it taking countless studies at immense expense so long to barely approach the truth they have known all along?

Thanks very much for the story. Roundup has indeed been the most brilliantly marketed toxic product in history.

One of Edgecliff Village's public works guys just drove up and down the street spraying Roundup along the curb to kill weeds between the concrete gutter and the asphalt street crown. This street drains into the creek. When I complained, he said "call city hall."

I just spoke with the director. "We've been doing it for years," he assures me. I told him that doesn't make it acceptable, that "Rodeo" is the product meant for around water (and it's probably obnoxious also). I'll print the regulations and the product information and send it to them, along with some information about vinegar and orange oil. He said people complain about the weeds in the street in front of their houses - I would contend that weeds at the curb is each homeowner's responsibility.

Do I understand correctly that GMO foods were developed so that farmers could spray Glyphosate on food crops? If so, why is this allowed if Glyphosate is so dangerous?

Why is this allowed? Because Monsanto has managed to buy enough officials and elected representatives to let legislation through permitting this behavior. Because of the bottom line. Monsanto and corporate farms make huge profits.
