The active ingredient in Advantage & Frontline Flea Treatment is imidacloprid, a neurotoxin which has been known to cause very serious adverse health problems, including thyroid, liver, spleen, heart, kidney, lung, brain and adrenal damage in laboratory animals.

Fipronil, an active ingredient found in Frontline, is an insecticide from the phenylpyrazole chemical family. It is used not only for flea and tick solutions like Frontline but in other pesticides used for insect management.
