Post subject: | Identify this tree |
Q: These trees produce fruit in the fall. We have lived on our place many years and this is the first time we have noticed them. These pictures were taken today. This fruit smells sweet, like a flower, almost like a lemon. We have several of these bushes growing here on our place. The fruit on them looks like lemons, small, cut open looks like a lemon with a bunch of seeds. I attached several pictures. The tree/bush has thorns and a smooth leaf. Can you help us to identify this tree? A: Yes, this is the trifoliate orange. Its rootstock is often used to graft other fruit trees onto. It also makes an excellent barrier plant since it so well armed. You can find more about it my book, Texas Gardening - the Natural Way.
