I took a quick 2-day visit to the Texas coast last weekend to get in a little birding during migration. The Purple Gallinule shown below is not a typical backyard bird but I did find a nesting pair in Irving a few years ago. While not primarily a photography trip, here are a few images I managed to snag. All of these birds are passing through North Texas and could be in your backyard. http://www.birdzilla.com/dirt/migrants.htm |

Wow-great pics, beautiful birds. Had an unusual thing happen. Have a shed/cabin at our acreage & a beautiful 'apartment' bird house inside on a table that we have not gotten around to putting in a tree. (20 ac & can't find a suitable one ) Last weekend we noticed small greyish birds w/long beaks going into the shed at the top of the walls where the roof meets. Sure enuf, babies in a nest in the birdhouse. Figured they wouldn't be able to get outside once they were fledglings so we carried the table & house out onto the porch. Mom & Pop didn't seem to mind & kept feeding so guess this arrangment will work. Patty |
