Bats are very interesting to me and I've made several trips to the Bat Tunnel near Fredricksberg, TX. But, I have never seen a bat in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Does anyone know if there are any around here?

I used to think I was seeing bats at Lake Worth at sunset, but they were probably swallows skimming for a drink.

Bats are everywhere around DFW. I was at White Rock Lake and saw bats flying around at dusk. I had them at my home in Coppell also.
Check out the non-profit local organization where you can get up close to various species of bats.

We had an incredible experience with some red bats in our backyard a few years back. After a quick and fierce wind swept through, we found that a monter and 3 babies had fell from a huge magnolia tree and were laying on the grounf stunned. The babies were so tiny and I didn't know if they would survive. We kept them protected from our dog until the mother came to and flew off. Over the next couple of nights she returned to get eaach baby one by one.

There are bat houses at Lake Grapevine. I think they are ttrying to attract the bats as a mosquito control.
