I have a good view of these five birds under my front porch but I don't think it will last much longer. Their feathers are nearly complete and their beaks have transitioned from wide gaping receptacles to a more pointed beak for catching insects on the wing. My wife thinks they will be gone by tomorrow

These are barn swallows that nest all over the US but migrate south. They fly around and catch insects while in flight. They lay 2-7 eggs with 5 being the norm.
I have them on my front and back porch. The only problem is the droppings they leave but that is a small price to pay for a front seat to bird behavior, start to finish.

Great photo.

I am in New York for the summer and a pair of Barn Swallows are nesting under the eves of our house also, but so close to the top that I can barely see the adult on the nest.

You can turn off images in your preferences if you'd like, that turns the maps back into their regular text forms (as well as removes all the other images... items, monsters, etc).
