Does anyone know how Lilac do in my area of North fort Worth? I love Lilac and there are so many different varieties. Also, where can we find more uncommon type of plants around my area?

Most common lilacs (members of the Syringa vulgaris clan) require a considerable cold period during the winter and don't do well south of Zone 7. Instead, try to purchase locally some of the new introductions called 'Descanso' hybrids, which can reportedly tolerate the warmer temperatures of the South. Also check out a Vitex which could be a beautiful alternative.

For nursery info, click on Organic Businesses link on the left.

I have a purple vitex, also called Texas lilac. You would like it, as it does resemble the lilac.
