Alas, as my dirtdoc membership is about to expire next week, and as I can't justify the cost of nearly $30 to use this forum (I'm cheap I admit) I bid you all a fond farewell. I have enjoyed the times we've had. Thanks for all of the great advice I have received and forgive me for any bad advice I gave you.

Regards, Kbrew

I'm sure you can come back. Maybe not right away.

I hate to see you guys leave. I hope you understand why you have to be a member to be able to post. This is based on what has happened in the past. You may remember that some idiot tried to post porn that is not organic. I hope that you guys will reconsider and return. You both have been a wealth of information to the rest of us. Also, remember that your yearly dues get you more then the ability to post here. You get the 'DIRT' magazine, discount coupons, entrance to all the Dirt Doctors seminars, etc. Please think it over. $25 / year is not that much to get all this great information.

Yes, Patty, a collection would be nice. I've spent all my money on dry molasses.

Gar...is there such a thing as organic porn? :)

Is this a guess on your part, or was this revealed to you by admin? I doubt that this is the reason as those posts occurred in February and the forum/membership changes were effected in October. I am a member of several public forums (all free BTW) and the administrators seem to be able to manage to thwart such attempts without restricting membership.

I guess this is when we get to learn if these “benefits” are regarded as real or merely perceived. IMO the format change with Dirt may prove to be detrimental to membership renewal. The lack of responsiveness by admin to questions/comments regarding those changes has certainly given me cause to pause.

If by "admin", you mean me, I have tried to respond to every post and private message concerning this site......I may have missed some, but it was not intentional....Is there something I can help you with?

Kbrew,

I am also disappointed that you feel this way. You have been a very important part of our community. It is the contributions of each member that makes our community stronger. But please let me be blunt. Is it really the $2 per month that is causing you to leave? If you really wanted to, I bet you could find a dozen ways to save $2 per month. So let's say that the Ground Crew membership doesn't provide $2 worth of value to you in order for you to take the effort to save it from somewhere else. Doesn't the 10% discount on purchases from the many participating retailers and manufacturers save you $24.95 per year? So OK, you don't buy anything from the participating companies. We work really hard to provide great articles and information in the monthly DIRT. I hope you can find some value in each DIRT. And not that I am saying that this has to apply to you, but many of us find it extremely rewarding to spend $2 per month to help others convert and find success using natural organic methods. Second to last, your $2 per month not only provides you with access to the coupons, this forum, video features, the monthly DIRT and more, but it helps to support our research; running of this site; the production of the DIRT, this site and more; our support staff; utilities and other business expenses. I know you can see what we do, and I know you believe in what we are trying to accomplish. I hope you can understand why we are asking for a little over $2 per month in order to support these efforts. Lastly, we appreciate you. We would love for you to continue to be a Ground Crew member. With all this said, if you still feel that you need to go, we will be disappointed, but understanding. We know that you will still be carrying on the crusade.

All my best,

Doug

Doug,
If you break it down even further, it's really only .07 cents a day. Who couldn't afford that? Well, I suppose I could find a way to pay it but when you have a family and a budget, all the little cents here and there add up to real money. I could probably justify a lot of things that way. The thing is, I have a bottom line and must draw the line somewhere...and paying to participate on a forum just isn't in the budget. I suppose the 10% discount on organic supplies would eventually pay for itself but I'm not very close to a participating business. Redentas in Cedar Hill is the only one I know of and that's 25 minutes away.

It seems to me that the current "banner advertising" on this forum is probably a good way to pay the support staff; utilities, etc that you mentioned. But since I'm not in the business, I can't say that for sure. It seems to be a catch 22 for you...if you lose participation on this forum because of enough people like me, the "banners" are likely to disappear as well. On the other hand, if you provide a free forum, the advertisers are going to form a line to the left to pay for the exposure.

I appreciate your comments and I don't mean to grand stand here...but yes, it really is the money. I would rather spend that $25 on a subscription to an organic magazine that comes in the mail.

Regards, kbrew.

In order that I don't further detract from Kbrew's thread I am going to start a new thread.

Kbrew, good luck to you and maybe we'll "see" each other on another forum or perhaps even this one in the future.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with the video page....I just went and checked and they come up fine for me....If you could tell me exactly what you're doing when it fails for you, I can help figure out what could be causing the failure....

Thanks!

Choose broad band and select a video. Click 3

It opens a new window to http://easylink.ishowmedia.net/drdirt/Meet_Logan_hi.asx

And it says:

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

That's odd, I can get it to play.....Have you tried any of the other videos with the same result?
