Post subject:  Hello all from NC

I am glad to become part of your discussion forums and hope to learn some and help out whenever possible.
I am Clay from Jamestown, NC. I am married with 2 children.
I really enjoy vegetable gardening and have gotten serious about it the past few years. I have tried to grow new things every year along with some of the same things as the year before. My garden is by no means the largest but it isn't a small bed in my back yard. Actual measurments this year are 57x16. I wanted to go wider (last year it was) but the tiller broke down right after a pass and I haven't got it going again yet.
This year I am growing 3 types of tomatoes(German Johnson, Cherokee Purple, Mortgage Lifter) , yellow squash, zucchinni, okra, bush beans, snow peas, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, hot cherry peppers, 2 different types of pickling cucumbers, brocolli, corn, eggplant and am trying pumpkins for the first time.
I am going completely natural this year using compost and chicken manure(don't worry, it is aged). Luckily I haven't had any big problems with bugs in the past but if I happen to hopefully I can get help here.

I will get you pictures soon but for now I'll just tell you about it.
It is coming along pretty good. I got my tomatoes, peppers and broccoli planted early and they are doing great. Tomatoes are growing on the vines and I have peppers growing everywhere. I did add Sweet Million tomatoes to the mix mostly because my son loves eating cherry or grape tomatoes.
I also added some tomatillos. They look good and have bloomed like crazy. It is my first shot at these so I'll keep you posted on their progress.
My broccoli plants are looking great. The only problem I had with them was early on they were getting chewed on by a looper that I eventually found and eradicated.
My cukes and beans are flowering but haven't shown any growth yet.
My eggplant got hit hard by some sort of worm or something very early on. I never found it but it has disappeared whatever it was. The plants are recovering well. I will have to let you know how they turn out.
My peas, squash, zucchini, and pumpkin got a very late start. The plants look good but haven't grown enough to flower yet.
My corn has shot up considerably in the past week.
The reason some things are so late is because I started seeds myself, indoors, and the seedlings grew huge. When I transplanted them I watered them well but the very next day the heatwave hit and just burned them up. I have never seen so many poor looking seedlings in my life. It was embarrasing.

I have no Idea why I didn't take any cucumber pictures but the vines are beautiful and are producing like crazy. I have pickling and slicing vines and I got some bush type slicing just to see what they would do.
