Hi, I am a City Girl Gardener. I live in Houston, TX and garden, organically, in my backyard. Although, I am originally from a Georgia, where my root family had a family farm that my Uncle and his family worked. They were the family that came to town on the vegetable truck and hollered; "vegetable truck, get your watermelons, corn, green beans, etc." They picked up a 5 gallon bucket from my family when they passed through our street which contained all of the fresh scraps (the same as the materials that we use in our compost now). My parents and seven children lived in the city and had a backyard garden. I have always visited this site but this is my first posting. I have a small organic garden that was designed to feed 3, but fed a lot more this summer, so I just expanded it and now I call it a neighborhood garden. I encourage all my friends to garden, for better health. Glad to be here! |
