Corn meal is far better for soil disease control in lawns than potassium bicarbonate in my opinion!

Potassium bicarbonate is basically a safer form of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). Baking soda is mostly used in an diluted compost tea solution as an occasional foliar application fungicide.

No form of natural pesticide nor natural fungicide should ever be used at all, unless it's absolutely necessary in a 100% sustainable or organic gardening system. The number one thing to do is to build up the organic matter (humus) in the soil all the time, and to keep feeding the beneficial soil/foliar microbes around your lawn or crops all the time.

Corn products like corn meal, cracked corn, or even no-salt high protein cheap cattle/horse feeds are excellent protein, nitrogen/phosphorus fertilizer/soil amendmennts in dry form or aerobic compost tea form, and corn is the only grain that is a powerful universal beneficial fungal food, that acts as a fungicide against bad fungi.

Potassium or sodium bicarbonate can't do all that.

Happy Gardening!
