Post subject:  tomato vines chewed

A few weeks ago something was in the garden and ate all of the green tomatoes. And now something is chewing my tomato vines to shreds.

Did you take a close look at the plants? It sounds like a tobacco hornworm. Use Bt to kill the worms. Here is a small hornworm:

Here's a larger version, and they can really chow down on the tomato real estate:

It happens that these worms were on a datura where they'd been relocated, but they love the tomatoes, peppers, and given a bunch of hungry worms, they move into the eggplant. They eat chunks out of tomatoes, they eat plant leaves - they eat whatever is in front of them.

no worms. They aren't eating the leaves just the vines.
