There are tiny thin white pests on the top of the artichoke plant leaves. They look like white rice in length but super thin. Some days the whole artichoke leaf is glazed looking with a slight stickyness. The leaves will then begin to look stressed. I spray with neem oil, it looks better for a week or two then it comes back. I have googled and am not finding info on what this pest is. I have 100's of ladybug larvae on the artichoke plants and don't want to harm them. Does anyone know what this may be?

Can you post photos of the plants?

As a general rule of thumb, when otherwise healthy plants are clobbered by insects it can mean that the plant is getting too much or too little water. What kind of bed preparation did you do, are you organic, and how much and how often to you water?

This is the second year for the artichoke plant. We are 100% organic. The soil was just reworked a month ago. Last year it did the same thing but the plant thrives and is huge. When the shiny sticky substance happens the leaves are heavy.
