My Roma tomatoes are infected on the bottom of the fruit with I don't know what. First is a rotting look then a black scab grows over. Don't know if insect or what |

Where are you, and are you gardening organically? What stage are the tomatoes? Small, nearly mature, ready to blush, etc? |

I am NW of Ft Worth Tx. Been organic and pesticide free for 7, 8 years. The tomatoes seem to be turning when I find them. Only a few. Most seem ok. Some have a hard black crust on bottom and some are a soft rotted spot |

It is called Blossom-end rot and occurs with a lack of calcium (or a deficient amount). Apply 3-4lbs of soft rock phosphate per 100 square feet. Several nurseries in the DFW area carry this product. Also, water deeply, then let it get a little dry between watering. So, water every 3 days or so, but water deeply. Fertilize every2-3 weeks and spray the foliage weekly with liquid seaweed. |
