Post subject:  Flea beetles?

I have some flea beetle like bugs on my eggplant. The bug is twice the size as a flea as a little green on the side and clear wings (they look a lot like wings).

Any ideas?

Flea Beetle in the Dirt Doctor library.

Quote:
Feeding habits: They eat small round holes in the leaves of potatoes, peppers, beets, brassica, and other crops. Young sprouts are often a target. Leaves are skeletonized, giving plants a bleached appearance before they wilt and die. Larvae feed on roots and tubers below ground. They leave brown snake-looking marks on potatoes.

I try to put out beneficial nematodes every year, but I don't always get it everywhere or early enough, and these tiny bugs clobber my eggplant leaves every year. Orange oil (diluted - a couple of ounces in a gallon of water and some Garrett juice sprayed on help; Neem can be used also, but if you use Neem when it's really hot, as we're coming into, you can kill your plants, so be very careful with it. Spray in the cool of the day.
