Thank-you for looking for an acceptable way of getting them out of your attic. I would ask you to wait a couple of months until they migrate - they will get rid of themselves. Bats are protected and highly beneficial. After they leave, you must seal all the entry/exit holes so they can't come back next summer. If you walk around your house just after dark you should be able to see them on their way out for dinner. There may be more than one entry point so look closely. If you want to know more about these wonderful mammals, go to http://www.batcon.org/.

And you will be amazed at the flat little slits they can emerge from. I had bats in my apartment building years ago and I never could convince the manager they were there. She said there was no room for them to get in and out. She always left the property before dusk when they poured out of the building! Never did get that one resolved with her.

Bats are great to have around! Let me add to David Hall's comments. Your house more than likely has slat type vents to the attic. If so, get some stainless steel or galvanized screening with 1/4" (or so) holes and nail or staple inside of your attic. This also keeps birds and other critters out.
