Post subject:  MOSQUITO DUNK SUGGESTION

I was having trouble keeping the Dunks where I wanted them. :x

They would wash out of the containers, as I have 'crock pots' to catch the rain water from the gutter down spouts.

First try was to place the Dunk in a plastic container with holes punched it but it still floated and the young pup would 'bob apples' for it. :x

Second and current attempt is to put pieces of the Dunk into glass salt shakers. When filled with water, they stay put in the bottom. :D

To minimize the corrosion to the metal cap, apply some WD-40 or Vasiline each time the shaker is re-filled. :!:

You could also break it into smaller and smaller pieces until the dog isn't interested anymore.

David,
That does not solve the problem of it washing out of the container, sticking to the sides or floating on top.

I was not concerned about the pets.

I would tell you the bolt size, but I forget.

So, this is real easy... take a dunk w/ you to any hardware-type store... then go to the nuts/screws/bolts section... you know where I mean.

Find a 2 inch or so bolt that just slides thru the hole... spend 1.29... stays down, till done. Great for fish ponds, French drains... you name it.

Fido doesn't like chewing on (underwater) bolts either... :P

Yep, the bolt will work where you have a larger amount of water to treat, like a pond. As the Dunk breaks apart, pieces start to float though.

I my case, the crocks are small and I don't need the whole Dunk.

If the container for the Dunk is in deep water, one could tie a string to it and a float (fishing cork) to the other for retreival.

One can find lots of cheap salt shakers at garage sales. A good size for a whole Dunk would be one of those shakers found at the Pizza places for the pepper shakers. Holes are larger also.
